Honoring the Black Creative.

Create Through Crisis: Honoring the Black Creative celebrates and highlights how Black creatives have continued to create, and thus serve, throughout history to the present COVID-19 pandemic. The film shows how the corona virus crisis has impacted the creations, creative process and lives of these 14 Black, multi-disciplinary creatives. It’s also a stark reminder: without Black artists, the world would be monochromatic, at best.

Among the 14 interviewees are Black Artists and Designers Guild founder and fine artist, Malene Barnett; veteran journalist, writer and original member of Public Enemy, Harry Allen; conceptual metalsmith Keith Ramsey; and award-winning interior designer, Kesha Franklin. The film’s score features music solely from the discography of producer, artist and musician, Eriq Troi.

The film’s entire concept, production and distribution is provided by Black creatives and entrepreneurs. It’s the first in a trilogy celebrating entrepreneurship and creativity from nascent independent filmmaker and award-winning serial entrepreneur, Lena West, Founder of CEO Rising® Studios and social commentary cinematographer, Marcus Garvin, Founder of Images Born™.
